Murrells Inlet was once primarily a fishing village, but has been built up in modern time, along with the rest of the Grand Strand, into a popular tourist and retirement location. Being the Seafood Capital of South Carolina, it is most known for Restaurant Row, a cluster of award-winning restaurants on its Main Street.

Although Murrells Inlet is growing, it remains a quaint contrast to the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach, while remaining in easy access to all the area's many activities.
